Why THE DERBY theme?

Right now, there is a great need to drive awareness to the fact the COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately more devastating for women. There is a great need to drive awareness for the fact that this pandemic is especially devastating for women. Phoenix police have reported a 140% increase in homicides related to domestic violence and nationally mothers have seen a 12% drop of employment in 2020 compared to U.S. fathers who saw a 4% drop. At AFW, we ask you to help us be the change for women through our virtual Roller Derby fundraiser.
